Featured picture candidates Featured picture candidates are images that the community will vote on, to determine whether or not they will be highlighted as some of the finest on Commons. This page lists the candidates to become featured pictures. The picture of the day images are selected from featured pictures. Old candidates for featured pictures are listed in the log pages and in the candidate archives. There are also chronological lists of featured pictures: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and current month. Formal thingsNominatingGuidelines for nominatorsPlease read the complete guidelines before nominating. This is a summary of what to look for when submitting and reviewing FP candidates:
Artworks, illustrations, and historical documentsThere are many different types of non-photographic media, including engravings, watercolors, paintings, etchings, and various others. Hence, it is difficult to set hard-and-fast guidelines. However, generally speaking, works can be divided into three types: Those that can be scanned, those that must be photographed, and those specifically created to illustrate a subject. Works that must be photographed include most paintings, sculptures, works too delicate or too unique to allow them to be put on a scanner, and so on. For these, the requirements for photography, below, may be mostly followed; however, it should be noted that photographs which cut off part of the original painting are generally not considered featurable. Works that may be scanned include most works created by processes that allow for mass distribution − for instance, illustrations published with novels. For these, it is generally accepted that a certain amount of extra manipulation is permissible to remove flaws inherent to one copy of the work, since the particular copy – of which hundreds, or even thousands of copies also exist – is not so important as the work itself. Works created to serve a purpose include diagrams, scientific illustrations, and demonstrations of contemporary artistic styles. For these, the main requirement is that they serve their purpose well. Provided the reproduction is of high quality, an artwork generally only needs one of the following four things to be featurable:
Digital restorations must also be well documented. An unedited version of the image should be uploaded locally, when possible, and cross-linked from the file description page. Edit notes should be specified in detail, such as "Rotated and cropped. Dirt, scratches, and stains removed. Histogram adjusted and colors balanced." PhotographsOn the technical side, we have focus, exposure, composition, movement control and depth of field.
On the graphic elements we have shape, volume, color, texture, perspective, balance, proportion, noise, etc.
You will maximise the chances of your nominations succeeding if you read the complete guidelines before nominating. Video and audioPlease nominate videos, sounds, music, PDFs, etc. at Commons:Featured media candidates. Set nominationsIf a group of images are thematically connected in a direct and obvious way, they can be nominated together as a set. A set should fall under one of the following types:
Adding a new nominationIf you believe that you have found or created an image that could be considered valuable, with appropriate name, quality, image description, categories and licensing, then do the following. Step 1: copy the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box, for example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Your image filename.jpg. Then click on the "create new nomination" button. All single files: For renominations, simply add /2 after the filename. For example, Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Foo.jpg/2
All set nomination pages should begin "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/", e.g. "Commons:Featured picture candidates/Set/My Nomination".
Step 3: manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list: Click here, and add the following line to the TOP of the nominations list:
Nominations are time-sensitive and for one-time use only. An automatic clock starts as soon as they are created. Do not create them in advance, save them for later or re-activate them. Galleries and FP categories: Please add a gallery page and section heading from the list at Commons FP galleries. Write the code as Page name#Section heading. For example: Optional: if you are not the creator of the image, please notify them using
An 'Alternative' is created by adding a sub-section to the nomination page: ====Alternative==== VotingEditors whose accounts have at least 10 days and 100 constructive, stable edits on Commons (excluding user and talk pages) can vote. Everybody can vote for their own nominations. Anonymous (IP) votes are not allowed. You may use the following templates:
You may indicate that the image has no chance of success with the template reason - ~~~~, where reason explains why the image is clearly unacceptable as a FP. The template can only be used when there are no support votes other than the one from the nominator. A well-written review helps participants (photographers, nominators and reviewers) improve their skills by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of a picture. Explain your reasoning, especially when opposing a candidate (which has been carefully selected by the author/nominator). English is the most widely understood language on Commons, but any language may be used in your review. A helpful review will often reference one or more of the criteria listed above. Unhelpful reasons for opposing include:
Remember also to put your signature (~~~~). Featured picture delisting candidatesOver time, featured picture standards change. It may be decided that for some pictures which were formerly "good enough", this is no longer the case. This is for listing an image which you believe no longer deserves to be a featured picture. For these, vote:
This can also be used for cases in which a previous version of an image was promoted to FP, but a newer version of the image has been made and is believed to be superior to the old version, e.g. a newly edited version of a photo or a new scan of a historical image. In particular, it is not intended for replacing older photos of a particular subject with newer photos of the same subject, or in any other case where the current FP and the proposed replacement are essentially different images. For these nominations, vote:
If you believe that some picture no longer meets the criteria for FP, you can nominate it for delisting, copying the image name into this box, after the text already present in the box: In the new delisting nomination page just created you should include:
After that, you have to manually insert a link to the created page at the top of Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list. As a courtesy, leave an informative note on the talk page(s) of the original creator, uploader(s), and nominator with a link to the delisting candidate. can be used for this purpose. Featured picture candidate policyGeneral rules
Featuring and delisting rulesA candidate will become a featured picture in compliance with following conditions:
The delisting rules are the same as those for FPs, with voting taking place over the same time period. The rule of the 5th day is applied to delisting candidates that have received no votes to delist, other than that of the proposer, by day 5. The FPCBot handles the vote counting and closing in most cases, current exceptions are candidates containing multiple versions (“alternatives”) of the image as well as delist-and-replace nominations. Any experienced user may close the requests not handled by the bot. For instructions on how to close nominations, see Commons:Featured picture candidates/What to do after voting is finished. Also note that there is a manual review stage between when the bot has counted the votes and before the nomination is finally closed by the bot; this manual review can be done by any user familiar with the voting rules. Hint: Until summer 2025, the bot was also not able to process FPXed, FPDed and withdrawn nominations as well as delist nominations; this has been fixed, users do not need to close such nominations anymore. Above all, be politePlease don't forget that the image you are judging is somebody's work. Avoid using phrases like "it looks terrible" and "I hate it". If you must oppose, please do so with consideration. Also remember that your command of English might not be the same as someone else's. Choose your words with care. Happy judging… and remember… all rules can be broken. See also

Info Angolan giraffe licking its nose in Etosha National Park, Namibia. Giraffes commonly perform this behaviour to clean and moisten the nostrils, helping remove dust, pollen, parasites, and other debris from the nasal surface. This grooming behaviour is facilitated by the tongue's remarkable length (up to about 45 cm) and muscular flexibility, adaptations that also enable efficient browsing on thorny vegetation.

Weak oppose – Nice behavioral capture and composition, but the motion blur on the raised wing and the slightly overprocessed appearance keep it just below my FP threshold, sorry --Mounir TOUZRI (talk) 07:31, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- The picture was taken at 1/2000s and I see no motion blur as each feather is clearly visible. I don't see any overprocessing neither. The image is simply smaller than the girafe one as these small birds were far away and that even a 800mm zoom required some cropping -- Giles Laurent (talk) 08:24, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Info Panorama of the Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Haven't been taking as many pictures lately, but went a little crazy on a recent trip to Yellowstone (my first time). Definitely one of the best places I've been. We got in late, with two full days and one late afternoon/evening on arrival that we spent here, at Mammoth. Just uploaded lots of photos, and it's hard to choose one to nominate, but I think this might be my favorite. I really loved the simultaneous beauty and death of this place, with the wonderful color gradients mixed with inhospitable ecology, steam, and preserved dead trees. all by — Rhododendrites talk | 19:15, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

Question I don't understand. Theoretically, all points of your figure are located in the hyperbolic component of period 2, that is, they belong to the M-set. Thus, what do the different colors represent? -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 11:32, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- That is factually incorrect. The coordinates of this frame Re ≈ -1.02845, Im ≈ 0.36146 do not belong to the interior period-2 hyperbolic component (which is a perfect disk centered at c = -1 with a radius of 0.25). Instead, this location is deep within the exterior filament network of the Mandelbrot set. Therefore, all pixels in this image represent escaping orbits. Rather complex exterior fractal hubs that naturally mirror the self-similar geometry. Aokoroko (talk) 12:34, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- You are quite right, sorry. Alvesgaspar (talk) 13:22, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Comment I made an edit to the source code because it was taking too long to generate the fractal. --Wilfredor (talk) 00:14, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Explain that it doesn't work that way. Wilfredor took my Source code and edited it. It doesn't work on the Source code.
- This is NOT an optimized version, it's vandalism. Please undo this. And don't do it again. Aokoroko (talk) 08:09, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- It was just a typo. I’ve added the correction. Majow (talk) 08:14, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- "It was taking too long to generate the fractal"???????????????????????????? This is terrible! Aokoroko (talk) 08:18, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- The calculation can be performed significantly faster by using bilinear approximation. You can view an example of this here: https://colab.research.google.com/drive/1brTL6clAbE32JKunBfSAq4gjZyPTxdb6?usp=sharing Majow (talk) 08:19, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- But I'm not 10,000 x 10,000 pixels, I'm 80,000 x 80,000! Every 1 equals 64 SSAA. Aokoroko (talk) 08:35, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- That has nothing to do with it: only about 20% of the iterations actually need to be calculated, while around 80% can be skipped. Majow (talk) 08:43, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- However, to meet the highest quality standards, one should naturally avoid skipping. That said, even a trained eye would not be able to detect a difference... Majow (talk) 08:47, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- The appearance of noise ("needles" or "grains") in deep areas The skip method uses a linear approximation. If the precision factor (in the code, this is line 1e-10) is chosen too aggressively, then in the deepest areas, where the distortions of the fractal space become extreme, the mathematical model may slightly "overshoot." What it looks like: Microscopic dots, stripes, or "noisy" pixels may appear on smooth color gradients. How to fix it if you notice defects: Change 1e-10 to a more stringent value, such as 1e-12 or 1e-14. The jumps will become slightly less frequent, but the artifacts will disappear completely. Aokoroko (talk) 09:08, 3 August 2026 (UTC)
- Aokoroko, you're right to ask for the code to be restored. As I mentioned in your comment on my talk page, this wasn't vandalism (Commons defines vandalism as an action intended to cause harm and notes that a misguided or poorly thought-out edit, even if made in good faith, shouldn't be considered vandalism). Vandalism involves a premeditated action to cause harm. I generated your fractal in a fraction of the time it used to take, but any faster implementation or bilinear approximation should be presented separately as an alternative. I wanted to thank Majow for correcting the compilation error in the directive. I apologize for replacing the original code without discussing it first. Wilfredor (talk) 12:58, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Comment I understand the remark. It was not obvious to have a foreground without tourists. I took a step back. I hesitated to present this photo with goelands in the foreground:this one -- JackyM59 (talk) 06:50, 1 August 2026 (UTC)

Support While there may be some minor technical imperfections on close inspection, they hardly detract from the overall impact. The deceptively simple composition, with the solitary weathered post silhouetted against the glowing sky, creates a strikingly atmospheric and memorable image. I found myself returning to it repeatedly, which is perhaps the strongest compliment I can give. -- Radomianin (talk) 22:38, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
Support I agree with Radomianin. The whole scene feels deeply unsettling and ominous. --Maryliflower (talk) 05:59, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
Support At first, I was struck by a jarring composition, a log lying across the middle that I didn't quite understand, but then I saw a solitary, almost human figure, a wounded, incomplete, and weathered log that nonetheless stands tall facing the sea, watching the sunset, a sea that will, sooner or later, swallow it whole. Taking the thought a bit further, it could represent someone who keeps waiting even after a loss. The sea represents distance and the passage of time, while the wood, now black and bare, still holds the memory of something that was once alive. The amber light of the sunset also lends an air of melancholy; the log seems to be searching for the sun or gazing directly at it. --Wilfredor (talk) 03:21, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

Strong support Aside from the excellent composition, it's evoking lots of interesting and varied emotions from the viewers. Perhaps I shouldn't base my vote too strongly on the opinions of others, but the fact that it's evoking such a response only strengthens its case as FP. —brainandforce [yap] 04:08, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

Support And a clever idea: the obvious thing to do was to take the usual beautiful, but inevitably unoriginal photo of the sunset on the sea; by instead focusing on the weathered post you have found an inspired and much more interesting solution. – Aristeas (talk) 09:38, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- @XRay: Thank you. This is also what I was asking myself while editing! The most logical explanation to me is some misalignment while shooting (I used a very cheap tripod without any specialized gear for taking panoramas) or some faulty settings while editing (I am slowly getting a hang of PTgui, but still don't understand how to compensate for certain perspective effects like in this case). Anyway, I have more confidence in Austrian civil engineers to correctly level their buildings than I do in myself to take a correct panorama, but you gotta start somewhere, I guess! :) If anyone has an idea how to fix this in PTgui, any advice is welcome! --Aciarium ⚒ (talk) 01:07, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

Support Beautiful. Although IMHO you could do with less/finer sharpening; here e.g. the beach looks a little bit unnatural (like a coarse gravel beach). On APS-C, ƒ/10 or ƒ/11 already introduces much diffraction, so you lose fine details, and sharpening cannot restore them. At 18mm on APS-C, ƒ/8 or even ƒ/6.3 should already give enough depth of field and would save more fine details, so that you could do with less sharpening in post and could get a crisper result. No offence, just a little suggestion. – Aristeas (talk) 10:10, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- @GRDN711: A search of FPs of bulbs shows that the only FPs of bulbs/bulbils are foods such as onion and garlic. All FPs of lilies depict only the flowers and buds. This image of a germinating bulbil will be a unique addition to the collection of FPs. Please consider this aspect, if you haven't already done so. Tagooty (talk) 04:03, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

Weak support per Cmao20. Of course the description could be more detailed. IMHO the image quality is not poor: the photo was taken at 75mm ƒ/1.2 (corresponding to a fullframe equivalent of 113mm ƒ/1.8) in order to separate the persons from the background, that worked well, and the fine hairs/fibre at the edges show that the focus is actually correct. (But the CAs could and should be removed/reduced; there is noticeable purple fringing at the high-contrast edges – easy to mitigate in post-processing.) – Aristeas (talk) 09:06, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

Comment Sorry, but the documentation is minimal and apparently intended to be interpreted only by experts. Two obvious necessary pieces of information are the scale and how this effect was achieved. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 18:09, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- True. Unfortunately, I didn't find any additional explanations in the Wiki Science Competition either. Personally, I have no issue with technical explanations. In any case, Karl's images — regardless of their visual appeal — address complex scientific matters. I hope he sees this conversation and at least includes a note about the zoom level and how to access them in the descriptions of this image and his other remarkable works. These images definitely stand a chance of come to FPC. @KarlGaff -- IamMM (talk) 19:54, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Magnified 100 times, a drop of liquid crystal was dispensed onto a glass plate and a cover slip placed on top. The liquid crystal spreads out into a uniform film under the weight of the cover slip. The image was captured using a microscope configured for crossed polarised light. The colours come about because liquid crystal is birefringent - it changes the polarisation state of the plane-polarised light passing through it. Now, the sort of labyrinthine pattern is caused by a phase transition. The liquid crystal sample is placed on a heat stage and at a particular temperature called the phase transition temperature, the liquid crystal changes from an opaque state to a transparent state, this is the transition front. The image width is about 2mm. KarlGaff (talk) 20:13, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
Sorry but per Alvesgaspar, we don't have enough information as to what this shows. The image is also barely above the 2 megapixel minimum. Cmao20 (talk) 13:09, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
Oppose- The problem is that I don't see how to add a detailed description to the image. The character count is very limited. Support IMHO the simplicity is the strength of this image. We usually put many things into fireworks photos, striving for a rather baroque abundance of beauty. The results are rather photos of ‘City x with fireworks’, ‘Castle y with fireworks’ etc.; in such photos the fireworks are just the icing. In contrast, this photo aims at showing the fireworks themselves, just like when we take a photo of only a single flower, and not of the whole garden, to show its beauty more clearly. – Aristeas (talk) 09:56, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

- I see a few speckles toward the front of the plane that would be NR remnants - the underneath of a dark plane against a bright sky is challenging - and a little CA near the nose that I'll try to address. As for the composition, it's a matter of taste, but far too many pictures of airplanes are just static depictions, rather than showing a fast-moving flying machine climbing into an interesting sky, with plenty of leading space. Acroterion (talk) 22:11, 26 July 2026 (UTC)

Closing nominations manually
The following description explains how to close nominations manually. Normally this is not necessary, as FPCBot takes care of counting the votes, closing and archiving the nominations. When the Bot has counted the votes, a user needs to check and approve the result; everything else is done by the Bot. Therefore, the following instructions are normally only needed for delist-and-replace nominations that the Bot cannot (yet) process, and in case the Bot malfunctions. The closing can be done by any experienced user. If you need help, just ask on the FPC talk page.
Closing a featured picture nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the nomination, then [edit].
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):

(You can leave thegalleryparameter blank if the image was not featured. If the nomination contains alternatives, you must add thealternative=xxxparameter with the name of the selected image between thegalleryand thesigparameter. See FPC-results-reviewed for examples and more explanations.) - Edit the title of the nomination and add
featuredornot featuredafter the link – for example:
:File:XXXXX.jpg
becomes
=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, featured === - Save your edit.
- Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
- If it is featured:
- Add the picture to the list of the four most recently featured pictures of an appropriate gallery of Commons:Featured pictures, list as the first one and delete the last one, so that the number is four again.
- Add the picture to the appropriate featured picture gallery page and section. Click on the most appropriate link beneath where you just added it as one of the four images on Commons:Featured pictures, list to find the gallery page, and search for the correct section. (An image should only appear ONE time in the galleries. After a successful nomination, the image can be placed in several of the Featured pictures categories.)
- Add the template
to the image description page.- If it was an alternative image or part of a set nomination, use the
com-nomparameter. For example, if File:Foo.jpg was promoted in the nominationCommons:Featured picture candidates/File:Bar.jpg, useYou also need thecom-nomparameter if the image gets renamed. - If the image is already featured on another Wikipedia, just add
featured=1to the Assessments template. For instance, becomes
- If it was an alternative image or part of a set nomination, use the
- Head over to the structured data for the image and add the “Commons quality assessment” claim (P6731) “Wikimedia Commons featured picture” (Q63348049).
- Add the picture to the chronological archives of featured pictures. Place it at the end of the gallery using this format:
File:xxxxx.jpg|# Title<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx<br> xxx, xxx, xxx- The
#should be replaced by 1 for the first image nominated that month, and counts up after that. Have a look at the other entries on that page for examples. (If you want to do everything perfectly, link that number to the nomination subpage, just like FPCBot does this. It allows users to jump directly to the nomination.) - The
Titleshould be replaced by the bare name of the featured picture, without the ‘File:’ or the file extension (such as .jpg .tif .svg). - The
xinx, x, xshould be replaced by the count of support, oppose, and neutral votes respectively. - If the nomination was a set nomination, use this format:
File:xxxxx.jpg|# Set: Title (Z files)<br>created by xxxxx, uploaded by xxxxx, nominated by xxxxx<br> x, x, x
Replace theZin(Z files)by the count of images in the set, and use the name of the first image from the set instead ofFile:xxxxx.jpgand for the title.
- The
- Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the nominator. For set nominations, use:== Set Promoted to FP ==, using the names of the set files instead of the XXXXXX and the title of the set instead of YYYYY.
<gallery>
File:XXXXXX.jpg
File:XXXXXX.jpg
</gallery>
YYYYY - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the user who has uploaded the image, if that user is not the same as the nominator. - Add
FP promotion
File:XXXXX.jpgto the talk page of the creator, if the author is a different Commons user than nominator and uploader.
- Add candidate archive categories to the nomination so that people can easily find and evaluate past nominations (this applies also to unsuccessful, FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations). It’s best practice to wrap all these categories in a
<noinclude>...</noinclude>section because they apply only to the nomination itself, not to the log page etc. which transclude it. You need three or four categories:- A category for the month and year, like Category:August 2026 featured picture candidates for the current month.
- A category for the type and result of the nomination, like Category:2026 successful candidates for featured picture status; replace “successful” by “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn”, depending on the final result of the nomination (see the supercategory for common values).
- A category for the subject of the nomination, like Category:2026 featured picture candidates of plants. Replace “plants” by one of the possible subject keywords like “animals”, “architecture”, etc.; see the base category for all common keywords. Basically the subject keywords correspond to the first part of the gallery link.
- If the nomination is a set nomination, add Category:2026 featured picture set nominations.
- As the last step (whether the image is featured or not; including FPX-d, FPD-d and Withdraw-n nominations), you have to move the transclusion (the and the text within those) of the nomination to the current log page.
- To find the current log page, visit the first page of the log for this month. If the header of that page contains a link with the text “Next part of this month”, the log for this month has been split into several parts because it contains too many entries. Click on the “Next part …” link and repeat this until you reach a page where the header does not offer a “Next part …” link; that’s the last and current log page.
- Now open Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list, click on [edit], and find the transclusion of the nomination you are closing. It will be of the form:
or:. - Copy that line to the bottom of the current log page and save that page. Then remove the same line from the candidate list and save that page.
Closing a delisting nomination
- On Commons:Featured picture candidates/candidate list click on the title/link of the candidate image, then [edit].
Add the result of the voting at the bottom (on a new line):
(for example see Commons:Featured picture candidates/removal/File:Ensifera ensifera (22271195865).jpg) - Edit the title of the delisting nomination and add
delistedornot delistedafter the image title; for example:=== :File:XXXXX.jpg ===
becomes=== :File:XXXXX.jpg, delisted === - Add candidate archive categories to the nomination; this works the same way as described above for featured picture nominations. The only difference is that the category for type and status must be of the form Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting from featured picture status, or Category:2026 successful candidates for delisting and replacing featured pictures if this is a delist-and-replace nomination. Substitute “unsuccessful”, “FPXed”, “FPDed” or “withdrawn” for “successful”, depending on the final result of the nomination.
- Move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
- If the outcome was not delisted, stop here. If it is delisted:
- Remove the picture from Commons:Featured pictures, list and any subpages.
- Edit the picture's description as follows:
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
featured=1tofeatured=2(do not remove the Assessments template; do not change anything related to its status in other featured picture processes). If the image description page uses the old Featured picture template, replace it with. - Remove the image from all categories beginning with "Featured [pictures]" (example: Featured night photography, Featured pictures from Wiki Loves Monuments 2016, Featured pictures of Paris); but not from categories about featured pictures on specific Wikipedia editions, like Category:Featured pictures on Wikipedia, English.
- Remove the "Commons quality assessment" claim (P6731) "Wikimedia Commons featured picture" (Q63348049) from the picture's Structured data.
- In the Assessments template on the image description page, change
- Add a delisting-comment to the original entry in the chronological archive of featured pictures in bold-face, e. g. delisted 2007-07-19 (1–6) with (1–6) meaning 1 keep and 6 delist votes (change as appropriate). The picture must not be removed from the chronological archives.
- If this is a Delist and Replace, the delisting and promotion must both be done manually. To do the promotion, follow the steps in the section above. Note that the assessment tag on the file page and the promotion tag on the nominator's talk page won't pick up the /replace subpage that these nominations use.
Archiving a withdrawn nomination
If a nomination has been withdrawn by the nominator by using Withdraw or is cancelled with FPX or FPD, wait 24 hours after the nomination was last edited. If there has been no objection to the cancellation within this time, the nomination can simply be archived. Just add candidate archive categories to the nomination itself, then move the transclusion of the nomination to the current log page; please see above for an explanation how to find the current log page and how to move the nomination to it.
