- Hey @Huntster, If you ask then what about this File:Ariane 5 flight VA232 launch.jpg Abdullah1099 (talk) 17:27, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing it out. I've tagged it for deletion as well. The "ESA Standard License" is not acceptable on Commons because it does not permit commercial reuse. — Huntster (t @ c) 17:30, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

- Bro, Source is not X/Twitter but i took the image from the Russian user who agreed and told the rules as Roscosmos website don't work in my country Abdullah1099 (talk) 17:21, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Word of mouth is not acceptable for a license on Commons. There must be some evidence, either through publication or by that user submitting consent through Commons' Volunteer Response Team ticket system. Otherwise, anyone could simply claim an image as their own and submit it to the site (and so many people do try to do just that). — Huntster (t @ c) 17:25, 25 February 2026 (UTC)

NRO Launches
[edit]So you're aware, you're new category Category:NRO Launch essentially duplicates Category:Launches for the National Reconnaissance Office. Was this intentional? — Huntster (t @ c) 06:36, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

File tagging File:NGC 2997.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:NGC 2997.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:NGC 2997.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request. |

SpaceX-related uploads
[edit]Related to the discussion at Template talk:Cc-zero-SpaceX, given your upload of File:Europa Clipper launch (KSC-20241014-PH-SPX01 0003).jpg where you licensed it with PD-NASA, I'm going to ask that you refrain from uploading anything related to SpaceX going forward. You still do not seem to understand when or how to use this template. I've now fixed the upload. — Huntster (t @ c) 13:51, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I understand bro but i thought NASA is superior that's why i added that template. Abdullah1099 (talk) 14:25, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
- I literally gave examples for when to use the CC-zero-SpaceX template with images from the NASA website, so if that was your takeaway then my concerns remain. — Huntster (t @ c) 15:37, 27 April 2026 (UTC)

File renaming
[edit]Follow the instructions at Template:Rename. I can rename the files myself but I don't know why you want them renamed. Adding "the star" seems not necessary and we are supposed to respect the original uploader's name if we can. Ricky81682 (talk) 09:16, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
I've reverted your renaming request at Commons:Categories for discussion/2026/05/Category:2000 at Elmendorf Air Force Base. First, this page is for discussing issues with that particular category, not for discussing image name changes. Second, the requested changes violate Commons:File renaming. File:Wide-field view of the sky around 51 Pegasi.jpg meets none of the six criteria for name changing, while the requested change for File:Wide-field view of the sky around 51 Pegasi (Cropped).jpg fails the part about "Files should NOT be renamed only because the new name looks a bit better." — Huntster (t @ c) 13:55, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- Bro i want to rename both to minimise grammar error and be more specific like in first it is missing the eso code while it's tiff version has while in other the minor problem is that the word "Cropped" in which the first letter is capital. Hopefully you understand what i mean @Huntster and @Ricky81682 Abdullah1099 (talk) 14:13, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
- Again, these types of changes are not permitted. There must be a factual or structural need, otherwise it is better to simply leave filenames alone. Read Commons:File renaming. — Huntster (t @ c) 16:16, 14 May 2026 (UTC)
