Hi please regarding the account @Ifeomak, I don't want to login to that account again and dosent plan to use it in the future. On the ANI where you stated you blocked it, please i am pleading for an unblock as i have not used that account as a sock on Commons. While i logged in with that account on Wiktionary and entered Commons with a link, i didn't know it will automatically log in with that account and i uploaded an image with it, thinking that i was using my original account. I only found out when i received a system notification of making my first edit and i immediately logged out of it. @Wmbata: Hi, Ifeomak is a sock of you by the investigation on enwiki. So it will remain blocked. As you said, you do not want to use it, why do you care if it is blocked? Ifeomak was found to be a sock but it actually wasn't a sock. I never used it to make any edit on enwiki, I only used it to plead on the talk page of the admins that blocked me on wikt, then i later found out it was regarded as harassment on Wikipedia and i immediately withdrew from making any further edit with it.

It wasn't even discovered by admins, I mentioned it myself during my Unblock request on Wmbata (on enwiki where i stated that i also unknowingly opened other account) because i am truly dedicated to contributing on Wikimedia. Georgia Governmental Copyright

Commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2026-07#File:Sonny_Perdue.jpg Hwy Yann. In the above discussion, I requested the undeletion of Georgia governor Sonny Perdue's official portrait due to changes in Georgia's governmental copyright law. Due to personal issues and the frank fact that the initial response to my proposal kinda turned me off from the whole thing, I did not see your reply. Yes, the release appears to be retroactive, since it declares not only that "all" records unless from a specified institution are in PD, and that said institutions that aren't exempt cannot claim copyright, but that defunct state agencies can have theirs's be exempt if their functions have been transferred over to an extant institution. Currently, there is a discussion questioning the accuracy of the template, so that's why I'm writing this on your talk page instead of immediately reopening a new discussion. — Knightoftheswords 05:45, 25 July 2026 (UTC)

Deletion request for movie posters from Iran

Hi @Yann. There is a possibility that we be wrong or surely something that needed on each case so please state what is actually wrong in RfD rather than directly deleting these PD-Iran tagged files, which surely I believe you see something wrong and indeed needs to be improved, just that please give us the chance to figure out and fix the issue. If File:Ettelaat13450720.pdf, something published by an organization in Iran thus PD-Iran in 30 years via "In cases where the work belongs to a legal person or rights are transferred to a legal person.", is not in PD-Iran, thousands of files will be affected, if film posters that are essentially "Photographic or cinematographic works." hundreds of other files will be affected and as said surely there can be something that is needed be improved, maybe we should decide we need to remove all of them or just improve file descriptions of some of the files, just please let's have it discussed somewhere so both sides can bring their opinions and proofs. Investigating more specially now I see what has triggered this if I understand correctly, incorrect file description of on [1], [2] and [3], that's totally understandable, I can say the user has good intentions and is uploading what others are uploading as PD-Iran, I've even see they have tried to imitate other uploaded files descriptions but with a lower quality so they apparently still isn't that familiar with the file description system of Wikimedia Commons so if possible don't take too hard on them but surely that doesn't mean they shouldn't do a better job on having better file descriptions and sure I can't guarantee their future works just that so far they had good intention on what they've uploaded as far as I can say. −Ebrahim^talk 16:21, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

@Ebrahim: Hi, You are not allowed to use PD-Iran without proper information. Specifically, if you don't know the copyright holder, PD-Iran can't apply. It can only be used if you demonstrate that the copyright holder is/was a legal person, which is not at all obvious. By default, copyright is owned by a physical person. That's for sure indeed, I for myself am considering this as far as I remember, what we have here I believe is two distinct matters, film posters that was discussed here Commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2023-05#Iranian_pre-revolutionary_film_posters and newspapers archive that will be discussed Commons:Deletion requests/File:Ettelaat13450720.pdf. And considering the two PD-Iran was already established practice (maybe a wrong one) that predates that user or me so please consider that most of the users were doing them based on what others have done before them and if they are wrong (which may or may not can be) one or two specific users shouldn't hold accountable for the entire thing. If that makes sense please make more general deletion discussion so more people can be tagged and asked from, File:Zarbe Shast.jpg that you just opened a RfD for specifically isn't different from File:شهر آشوب.jpg that was discussed on Commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2023-05#Iranian_pre-revolutionary_film_posters, at least the far as I see, and you don't seem to agree with the conclusion on that discussion, which can make sense so please reopen that discussion but before that please don't proceed with removing individual files or blocking uploaders. Sure but that holds for the both case not only one as far as I can see? I think what both case have is being a part of a publicly screened "Photographic or cinematographic works" that sure that can be a wrong discussion but for all the mentioned files of the previous discussion and these particular ones. −Ebrahim^talk 17:55, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

Posters aren't "Photographic or cinematographic works". This part only applies to pictures and movies. PD-Iran could apply for posters if the copyright belongs to the producer, but is it really the case? Yann (talk) 17:57, 29 July 2026 (UTC)

That's understandable, I don't know the answer to that, someone familiar with the original text of the law here should answer to that and this point isn't something not brought up during Commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2023-05#Iranian_pre-revolutionary_film_posters., all I was saying is please don't remove individual files for something that had consensus before, while consensus aren't final going after then by removal of individual files doesn't seem fair while Wikipedia editors relying on their results for years. −Ebrahim^talk 19:58, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
